Almost 250 years ago, four brave men were the first to conquer Triglav and thereby inspired many extraordinary stories that were written in the next quarter of a millennium. The story of Hotel Bohinj is also closely intertwined with them, as well as with energy efficiency, ecological orientation and commitment to the local environment and tradition.
The external image of the hotel merges with nature…
Instead of demolishing the old building – Hotel Kompas, built in 1972 – it underwent a complete renovation in such a way that the old building came to life in a new image. The old shape and volume have been preserved, but they have received a new wooden envelope made of larch wood, which merges the external image of the hotel with nature, and at the same time serves as earthquake protection.
Unique design
The interior is also heavily marked by larch. Unique chairs, tables, benches, as well as a mighty reception counter, were created from this beautiful wood. It is the main material of the walls and ceiling, and all the details are inspired by local and folk traditions, which were taken care of by local woodworking masters. The curtains, pillows and lights are also unique.

In addition to the unique design of the latter, it was very important that all lighting is based on energy-saving LED technology. All of this is in line with the pronounced sustainable touch of the renovation, which did not rudely interfere with the surrounding nature, but lived in harmony with it.
